About

The new programme at KRI combines divisional racing and progressional racing.

Age-group racing is divisional. Entries are split into divisions. Each event is completed on one day. The age-group programme extends over two days with different events available each day.

Class-based racing (i.e. novice, club, senior, prem) is progressional. Events have heats on day one and finals on day two. Each class-based event in the programme is raced on both days.

Merged Events In order to best show the effect of mixing divisional and progressional racing the regatta has been built using merged events. The finals of progressional racing for class-based events on day two appear as separate events (e.g. F10) in the programme but are merged into and entered through their day one counterparts. Having merged events means the crews can be easily duplicated into the programme for day two - so any plant or crew clashes are more obvious during entries.

Entry Limits

Every rower has a limit on the number of races they can enter. For the purposes of caluclating the number of races entered:

  • class-based events = 2 races
  • age-group events = 1 race

Class-based rowers can not enter age-group events. They can enter a maximum of 8 races (i.e. 4 class-based events). These rowers compete in novice/club/senior/premier events.

Age-group rowers can not enter premier events. They compete in non-premier class-based events and age-group events subject to the following maximums:

  • u18 & u17 can enter a maximum of 5 races
  • u16 & u15 can enter a maximum of 4 races

Age-group exemption any age-group rower who either is not at school or is at a school that does not have an available rowing programme can claim an age-group exemption and be treated as if they are an 18-year-old class-based rower. Exemptions can be claimed when updating competitor profiles

Novice crews: there is no restriction on the composition of novice crews at this regatta but in the event of novice crews needing to be balloted out (to meet the daily maximum number of races) they will be removed starting with the crew with the youngest average age.
