Due to the pandemic creating extraordinary circumstances beyond its control, the NZSSRA Board has announced the cancellation of this regatta.

Please note: regatta entries remain open until Tuesday night, despite the regatta not going ahead at the end of the month, because we need to know how many students and crews would have been entered.

NZSSSC has suspended all sports on the NZSSSC calendar. This includes Maadi. See the NZSSSC website for the full announcement. NZSSRA will factor this announcement into its options for Maadi 2020 and update members as soon as possible.

In light of the government's announcement that gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled it will not be responsible to hold the usual Maadi regatta later this month where over 2000 students are expected to be entered and a crowd of 8-10,0000 on finals days is not unknown.
Maadi has never been cancelled before. But it has previously been postponed (from Easter to November) due to the 1948 polio epidemic.
NZSSRA will be meeting urgently to decide what happens next with Maadi 2020.

Following the request raised at the 2019 NZSSRA AGM SIR have applied for U17 Pair exhibition events. SIR are also applying for the exhibition events at SISSC. And KRI are applying for them at NISSC.
