Karapiro Rowing Inc would like to clarify that it was KRI’s decision to cancel North Island Rowing Championships and not Waipa District Council. The decision to cancel was due to KRI not being able to safely implement the required Covid-19 protocols for such a large number of competitors.

This is the collection of regatta notices for the 2022 North Island Rowing Championships.
Dear Rowing Community,
As the country is moving to Red on the traffic Light system tonight, it is with regret that the North Island Rowing Championship regatta is cancelled.
We will provide an update on the rest of the regatta season later next week.
Any questions please respond to operations@karapirorowing.com
Regards,
The KRI Board
A draft schedule has now been released here. It will be updated as required. Supplementary entries open Wed Jan 19 at 11am.
2022-01-18 16:02:39A reminder that preliminary races are optional. There are 2 ways to progress to the final in a straight final event with a prelim race:
a) race the prelim and earn a lne based on your placing
b) skip the prelim and get allocated a random lane (outside those who raced the prelim).
The regatta is on track to go ahead as planned. It can take place while Karapiro is in either Orange or Green Traffic Light Setting. (A Red Light setting means cancellation)
The regatta is an event for CVC compliant people. That means you must have your My Vaccine Pass (or be too young, under 12 years 3 months old, to have one) in order to attend the regatta. It's highly recommended competitors who have an e-copy of their My Vaccine Pass also take a hard copy. That way they'll still have their My Vaccine Pass and be able to attend the regatta even if their battery is flat or their phone breaks.
The 2022 North Island Championships will be a 4-day regatta. It is built upon the 2022 Nationals programme of events. With the Maadi programmes of events similarly broken into blocks to separate the Nationals events blocks. Ability-grade and age-group events are run every day; to provide the maximum amount of racing for the greatest number of rowers.
When this regatta gets underway it will be the first opportunity to race 2000m at Karapiro in over ten months. KRI looks forward to seeing what crews bring to the water.
